Walks in the Stocksbridge Area are on Wednesday mornings starting at 10.30

The Stocksbridge walk was launched in September 2004. Their Volunteer Walk Leaders have devised a clever way to get around the fact that they have no community meeting point.  Each week they meet at a different location and each month they circulate a programme of walks for the following month so their walkers know where to meet on any given day. They can of course also check here on the Step Out Sheffield website!

In May 2026 the Stocksbridge Wellbeing Walks will be at the following locations: 6th May - Wortley Club, 13th May - Oxspring, 20th May - Lower Bradfield, 27th May - Elsecar.

The area link volunteers for walks in the Stocksbridge area are Chris Morris and John Gosling.

In case of bad weather, you can check if the walk has been cancelled or not by phoning the dedicated Stocksbridge helpline on 07546660286

For lots more details about the walk you are interested in simply click on the name of that walk in the panel below.

Stocksbridge walk locations are not well served by public transport but to keep car usage to a minimum and to ensure that no one without transport misses out they car-share. If you  live in Stocksbridge and need help with transport to access the Stocksbridge walks please contact the Step Out Sheffield Helpline on 07505639524.

Very few Stocksbridge walk locations have public toilets. Lower Bradfield, Elsecar and Langsett Barn are the exceptions. Also, provided you patronise the venue, there are toilets at the Old Post Office  cafe inWortley, and at the Rockingham Arms at Wentworth.

To encourage participants to socialise after the walk Stocksbridge volunteers provide refreshments (tea, coffee and biscuits) at the end of the walk.

To ensure that walkers of all abilities can join these walks Stocksbridge volunteer walk leaders provide a choice of two or three walks each week. The slow walk is usually 30-45 minutes at a leisurely pace, the middle walk is 45 minutes to 60 minutes at a steady pace and the main walk is usually a full hour of walking at a fairly brisk pace.

For further details of the Stockbridge walks and where they meet at each one please click onto the Stocksbridge walks tab and go to the venue you are interested it. If the weather is poor on a Wednesday morning  - check their dedicated weekly information line (07546660286) to find out if the walk has been cancelled.
