Gleadless starting point Jan 2022 Gleadless Walk March 2018

We generally set off in two or three groups (a short, flatish walk for those with limited mobility, a medium length walk for those who can walk a bit further, and a 'long' walk for those who can walk fairly easily for up to an hour). When we've finished walking we meet up together at the Terry Wright Community Hall in Newfield Green. Whoever arrives first puts the kettle on and fetches the milk for tea and coffee. A nominal charge is made for refreshments but, as always, the walks themselves are free.

Occasionally one or more groups of walkers catch a bus to another part of the city to walk before catching the bus back again.

It's very rare that we don't meet to walk. Rain, snow and wind don't generally put us off although we may decide to spend less time walking and more time talking back in the warmth of the hall! However, we definitely don't walk if conditions seem dangerous, for instance, if the footpaths are icy.

Buses:   1, 1a, 41, 56, 252, 10, 10a, 51 (watch out! Some are infrequent - others go round the houses!).

Parking: There is a big car park off Gleadless Road immediately in front of the Terry Wright Centre.

Toilets:   There are toilets in the Terry Wright Community Hall.
