Weekly Health Walks have been running from the First Start Centre in Firth Park since it was opened by David Blunkett in 2005. Walkers meet on the path below the access steps leading up to the front entrance to the First Start building from 11.15am in time to start walking at 11.30. Each week a shorter, slower walk is offered in addition to a longer option conducted at a faster pace. Many of the walkers return to Henry’s café in the First Start Centre for refreshments after the walk. When the weather is kind, the patio in front of the café is the preferred location for socialising!

Firth Park has well surfaced paths and links to the new ‘water garden’ in front of Hinde Common Woods. Concord Park, Longley Park, Wincobank iron-age fort, and even Parson Cross Park are within striking distance for the ‘longer’ walkers. A wide choice of walks is available in this area to suit all levels of ability. The park and the water garden are wheels friendly.
