Crystal Peaks start Dec 2021

The Crystal Peaks Health Walk was established in 2010. Set, as it is, in a beautifully landscaped residential area and very close to the green-belt, this walk attracted a good number of walkers right from the word go.

Initially walkers met outside a café on the lower floor of the shopping complex and returned there after the walk for a cuppa. These days walkers meet beside the benches on the concourse outside the main entrance to the lower level of the shopping complex and leave from there to walk. At the end of their walk  participants call at Emanuel Church, Waterthorpe, for refreshments. From the church it is just a five minute stroll back to the starting point at Crystal Peaks.

Crystal peaks is well located for walking. Rother Valley Country Park, Ochre Dyke Greenway and the Westfield Plantation are all within striking distance. The paths around Crystal Peaks are generally flat or gently undulating and the vast majority are tarmac-surfaced. This means that most routes are suitable for wheelchairs, prams and push-chairs. Walkers generally choose from either ‘striders’ or ‘strollers’ with a majority in the ‘strollers’ group. As with all our walks, the pace reflects the ability of the walkers. No one is ever left behind, there is always a back-marker to take care of the ones at the back. Walks usually last 45-60 minutes, but occasionally over-run by 10-15 minutes, espcially on warm sunny mornings. New walkers are very welcome. Why not come and give us a try? The walks are free (nothing to expend except energy) – just bring some change for a cuppa after the walk.

Please note: There are no walks on Bank holiday Mondays.
